The Dramatic History Of Coffee
One of the reasons why so many people are unhappy when it comes to doing laundry or coming to laundromats is that they don’t have anything to do while waiting for laundry to finish. Usually, a washer runs for about 35 to 45 minutes (can vary on the washing machine), and if you take in the time that requires you to put the clothes in (usually, people use two or three washers), add laundry detergent, and sit down to check their time, only 25-30 minutes are actually left. This is enough to make you feel bored but not enough to go home and come back.
Therefore, we can draw examples from inspiring leaders that influenced change for generations. They spread their message by example, by living the life that they wanted to see in others. It is not easy, yet it is the most effective. The best way to change lives is to change yours. The only way we can change our outer reality is when we ourselves change from inside. Most people respond to the change they see, rather than the change they hear.
The idea of double-consciousness applies to white people too, but in a different way. White people are subject to oppression, but they are also beneficiaries of racial privilege. An oft-used example of this is the story of Irish immigration to the USA. After centuries of brutal exploitation, mass murder and the horrors of the Great Famine, thousands of Irish boarded the “coffin ships” and headed to America in the 19th century. The Irish had suffered grievously from both class and national oppression.

I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with my daughter’s history teacher, “Ms. Jones”. Ms. Jones was full of excitement as she showed me the class syllabus and shared the upcoming activities and projects her class would be completing this year. Ms. Jones informed me about some ideas she had to engage her students in relating the past with current events. This included using music (an all time favorite), literature, current films, field trips, etc. I for one wanted to join the class and absorb all that Ms. Jones had to offer.
What do we know about these ancient civilizations? Quite a bit. Let’s start with Edom. Beginning with Joel in the 9th century B.C., seven Hebrew prophets announced Edom’s doom. Edom was a long mountainous strip about one hundred miles long and twenty miles wide with mountain peaks as high as 5,700 feet.

At the next family function or reunion, have any older children present the concept of a Family Health History Tree as a “School Project”. It’s hard to turn down a possible life-saving health project such as this, especially when they want to do well in School.
